Even although Glencode is a small business, I run at least 8 different instances of OS X, from laptops, to build servers and test virtual machines. Each of these systems have different characteristics and often it’s important to be aware of which system I’m working right now and how it’s configured.
When I looked at existing utilities that display system information on the desktop, I couldn’t find any that met my requirements. Specifically, I didn’t want a complex setup or to maintain a set of scripts. Also, because of testing Viewfinder’s desktop picture feature, the utility could not replace the desktop picture without interfering with that feature.
In order to fulfill my needs, I created Particulars. Particulars is distinct in several ways:
- Easy to setup
- Works independently of the desktop picture
- Provides live information
- Reacts to system changes, like the unplugging of a network cable
Particulars is available now in the Mac App Store for $1.99 and is also in the Volume Purchase Program.
